This eco-art is in honour of Joyce Echaquan. It is a prayer to surround Joyce with love and protection on her journey to the spirit world.

The cloth I chose is usually wrapped around my hand drum. It shows the fall colours and I believe it carries the medicine of the drum. The flowers represent love, grieving, beauty and peace. The fossils are ancient healers known as Grandfathers, arranged in a natural growth spiral.

This is also a prayer of protection for all female-identified BIPOC, at all times, especially when unable to protect themselves.

The intention is to amplify this prayer for Joyce and for all who need protection.
